Boat Dock on Lake George, Silver Bay, New York

From My Sketchbook:
This view of the boat dock, Slim Point and the distant islands was sketched from the upper balcony of the Boathouse at Silver Bay, YMCA of the Adirondacks. It was the end of August and the summer season was drawing to a close for many of the staff and guests. I have been visiting here since the mid 1970’s, and return with my art materials whenever possible. Apart from the opportunities to do canoeing, sailing, kayaking, tennis, archery, crafts, hiking, swimming, basketball, fitness training, rock wall climbing and more, there are also watercolor classes available for guests. I recommend this place for anyone wanting to have personal or family time relaxing or engaging in outdoor recreation. You can find more information about this beautiful and historic place online at: www.silverbay.org.

Since my youth I have enjoyed the Adirondack Mountain region of upper New York State, and this place is a particular favorite of mine. There are excellent settings and views all over the 700 acre campus for the artist to find subject matter for drawing and painting, and I am thinking about trying some printmaking as well.
