Main House in April
Oil on canvas, 20x16 inches, April 2008

Early Spring, into the first week of April and the trees are already in blossom and beginning to leaf out. This is the time of year each year that I promise myself I am going to get out and paint more. And of course the needs and events of life intervene and before you know it, its October already.
An old stone farmhouse, Main House is located at the center of the Pendle Hill campus, and is where you will find the dining hall, guest and staff housing, the “Reading Room” and Living Room” where it is welcoming to come visit,  meet, read newspapers and magazines, or simply sit and relax.
This time round I was prepared to go out and paint and the weather was accommodating, both at the same time. Out of the slightly more than five years I have been here, it is mildly surprising to me that this is the first and only work to date I have portrayed of this subject. I hope to find time in the future to make other works, as it is a visually interesting building both inside and out.
